OMG..I collect diecast too..we built a huge room to house our collection...We have a lot of the old drivers, Davey Allison, Alan Kulwicki, Fireball Roberts, ..Everything Dale ever drove..plus dirt cars, sprints, dragsters...got em all...Just got our Jamie McMurray car the other day....how do you think he will do in Winston Cup??

O what a great day. The Brickyard 400 going to be a exciting race today. I will be writing a post race report later today. peteTR25

What a race. For the for second straight week the pole winner has won the race Kevin Harvick. Matt Kenseth is still the points leader. Next race is at Watkins Glen. The second road course race of the season. I will post my top 3 picks later this week. Commets please. Thank You. peteTR25

Kevin Harvick on the pole, Kevin Harvick in Victory Lane, Kevin Harvick first driver to ever win from the pole at the second most prestigious race of the year, The Brickyard 400! I did my little celebration dance.

It was a good race. I first want to say that I thought it was an awesome job on Dale Earnhardt Jr.'s part to go from 36th to 14th, it may not be a top ten, but at a track where passing is difficult to say the least, he did one hell of a job making it look easy. And now, the race... Kevin was surpassed by Bill "Big Ears" Elliott and it looked like Elliott was going to have the dominant car of the day, until that big Orange # 20 of Tony Stewart swooped by him like he wasn't even there. Stewart went on to lead the most laps of the day but pit strategy kept him from his first Brickyard win. Not many caution's at all today, two for wrecks (Andretti who was fielding a DEI sponsered car was tapped on the back side by Rookie Tony Raines and then later on a pile up of cars involving, Marlin, Busch, Skinner, Johnson, Terry Labonte, Rudd, Nemechek, and Benson, which left Labonte in the realm of Jimmy Spencer as far as Kurt Busch is concerned. "Busch drives off the end of his hood. He can't see past his ears", Terry told the media. Busch tapped Terry on the backside to start the all too common accident of Nascar). Dale Jarrett brought out a caution flag as he slammed on the brakes entering pit road and spun around only to catch his Jackman, John Bryan (who was awake and alert but complaining of sore legs as they took him to the hospital and was released Sunday night, I wish him a speedy and full recovery). Jarrett was devistated and was not concerned with the race but for the welfare of his pit crew man, a true racer and a better friend in my opinion. Other cautions were brought out due to oil and debris on the race track.
Green flag pitstops began, where most would take two tires and a fill er up of gas to go forth and finish the race. Kensenth who was leading at the time (McMurray, Stewart, and Harvick had already been in the pits), was heard over his radio stating that he had hit some debris on the track but his crew cheif failed to bring him in before the caution flag flew. Several cars came into the pits during the yellow flagged laps scrambling the racing order. When it was all over McMurray was in the lead with Harvick in second and Kensenth in third. Tony Stewart who had come in under green had also returned to the pits under caution to have the left side tires replaced, feeling that his car was soon going to be in the fence, this placed him back in the pack which led to his 12th place finish. After the green flag flew, Harvick jumped down inside of McMurray who was being held up by the slower than usual Dave Blaney which handed the lead to Harvick. The final caution flag of the day then flew for the pile up accident (See Above). The green flag would not wave until there were only ten laps to go. (The lapped cars lined up on the inside of the lead lap cars, which I thought that with only 10 to go the lapped cars went to the back of the line?) Harvick took the green and was able to pull away a 3 second lead from the rest of the pack thanks in no part to his teammate Robby Gordon acting as a blocker for him. McMurray, finally able to get around Gordon by being pushed by Kensenth lost his second place ground to Kensenth. Neither of them however, were able to catch up to the man of the hour, Happy Harvick, who took the checkered flag, gave honor to the late Dale Earnhardt, kissed the bricks and climbed the fence. As I said before, it was a good race.

usually, it's hotter than hell, but the weather was fantastic during the race...
although it thunderstormed the night after.
